We’ve built four homes in the last 35 years, and this build was by far the least amount of stress, and best end result of the rest of our builds. The entire process, and R Henry Team, make it enjoyable. Lissa at the front counter always greets you with a smile and gets phone messages to the team timely. The owners are all very involved and ensure we are happy with the progress. Our build started with several meetings with Brandon Grunske. Brandon worked with my wife designing our home on the computer. The end result was exactly what we had planned. Our Project Manager, Jeremy Fischer, is “the best” he kept us within budget and kept us very calm throughout the entire build. Aaron Persons, was our Field Manager, he was a joy to work with also. He scheduled the subs and kept them on schedule. The Design Center is a beautiful showroom with every possible option available. It is so convenient to have everything under one roof. We worked with, Heather Buisman, and she was so helpful, and extremely patient throughout our build. She also helped us stay within our budget. Our entire build was a joy. The end result is a beautiful well built home.

We began with R Henry while we lived Iowa, driving 3 hours up and back every other week or so. We always looked forward to these trips to meet with prepare and capable staff. We are now in our new home and are loving it! The construction is above par and details are taken care. Would recommend!

We hired R. Henry Construction to remodel our kitchen and dining room. We were clueless about what to expect and how it all would fit in our budget. Upon meeting Jeff, our project manager, and Taylor, our designer, courtesy of The Design Element, we were immediately put at ease. They found a way to keep our existing cabinets by updating them with paint and new fixtures, convert our built-in desk to a walk-in pantry with sliding doors and affordably, but beautifully, our flooring, lighting and plumbing. They had Cambria install new countertops, tiled a gorgeous glass backsplash and even found and installed a Lazy Susan garbage caddy to make use of, what we considered, wasted space. All communications were professional, courteous and timely. The highest quality workmanship was provided by all members of the team and we simply could not be more pleased with the results!

We are very grateful to the R. Henry crew for making our building process much easier and more pain free than it may otherwise have been. We were looking for a one-stop shop and that is exactly what they delivered. We arrived at their office with a floor plan that we liked. They tweaked it, dressed up the outside (a lot!), and built a house we are very proud to call home!

We started meeting with Rich, Tim and Megan about nine months before we began construction. The planning process was aided by all of us being in the room together. They gave us options and listened to our wishlist, and together we created the home. At times we were concerned that our taste was far more traditional than they were accustomed, but they skillfully helped us design a classic home that will stay in style a long time.

Construction was seamless with no surprises along the way. Lucky for us, we didn’t have any delays due to weather or subcontractors. There were a couple days when no one was on site and other days when the site was crawling with people. Best of all, we moved in just three days over the original timeline! The R Henry bunch took care of everything from permits, to subcontractors, to disbursement requests for financing. The entire process was handled professionally, with a smile and a can-do attitude and we so appreciated that!

My wife an I reached out to several regional contractors for bids and design on an unfinished basement build. Two bedrooms, a bath, flooring, and more. We put our trust into R. Henry Construction and team leads Mike Roll and Kailee Helget and could not be happier with the results!

The design element really set the stage. It was the difference between a ‘nice’ basement for the kids to share versus something extraordinarily special. That’s probably a good summary of the R. Henry experience – results that are way above and beyond what we could have expected. The flooring, trim, colors, shelving designs, book/reading nook, and so much more. Kailee and Mike and the team were able to take our vague, hand-waving concepts and a few ‘something like this’ photos and designed something extraordinary.

Examples are that we have a grid-based shelving section with cabinets below the staircase – an area typically left open or closed off with a simple closet. Wonderfully done! My daughter had an odd area in her bedroom that was turned into a shelving and sitting area for reading, drawing, and relaxing. Bathroom is the nicest place in the entire house! Pebble flooring for the shower and a modern, inviting design. The wow factor of our new basement is off the charts.

Construction was always professional and we felt comfortable with the workers and builders throughout the process. We were in good hands throughout – from concept to design to construction and completion. We highly recommend going with R. Henry Construction if you are looking for something beyond the low-end solution. Costs were reasonable for the service and results provided – great value for the results.

We wanted to build a unique and special house for our first complete build. We had observed several builder’s completed projects over a period of time. As we researched R. Henry’s work, more and more we became confident with the work they did. That being said, we met with Rich, who is the owner, and we provided ideas and plans that we were interested in. He took the time to listen to our requests and interests and ultimately provided us something that was far better than what we were originally looking for. So the process began and Rich was able to answer all of our questions and help us with the financing and the building process.

Rich also introduced us to Aaron who would be our project manager who has been at our every beck and call, without hesitation. We then met with Megan, who absolutely understood our tastes and ideas, and paved the way for everything that made our beautiful home. After each planning meeting we had with R. Henry we felt as though we were a part of their family, we felt more and more confident that we had made, not only the right decision in a builder, but we had also made new friends. They had invited us to take part in their tour of homes and at each home we were welcomed by name into that specific home by a representative of R. Henry.

From day one we have had clear communications with Rich on the finances and timelines of the project. Aaron, our project manager has went above and beyond his duty by suggesting specific ideas and keeping this project ahead of the timeline as well as informing us of the details of the change orders that have come up during the project. Megan has been meticulous in providing us all of the options that work for us and our budget. With each meeting, Megan was able to take our ideas and create a beautiful place we love to call home. We had even wanted work with a different plumbing fixture company other than their suggested Ferguson, and R. Henry was more than accommodating when we went with a different provider.

We appreciate all of the benefits of working with R. Henry and knowing the idea that their contractors are professionals that pay attention to detail. Their contractors are not just your local guy who can get it done at a lower cost, which usually results in poor quality, and that made us feel as though they were building for us not just a job number.

R. Henry will build our next house, as they have made this build an enjoyment for us as well as a learning experience. We are so impressed with what R. Henry has done with the project, the level of professionalism that has been displayed from the initial conversation with Rich to being able to work with literally most all of their staff. I loved working with Aaron. R. Henry began the project when I wanted it started. Easy to work with and craftsmanship was excellent. I highly recommend R. Henry Construction.

My project was gutting the existing main floor and moving a staircase to a different part of the home. The existing home is over 100 years old. We had engineers come in and redo the whole floor plan to be sure that the new idea was compatible with the existing structure- very easy people to work with.

I ended up extending the project to redo the upstairs, and the basement. Whole home remodel. If I had anything that needed to be redone, they worked on getting it done to how I wanted it. I highly recommend R. Henry for your building projects.

We were matched with Megan, a designer from The Design Element. It was a perfect fit! She has such a great personality and made it easy to make decisions and trust in her professional eye. When building a luxury home, it can be overwhelming with all the choices that have to be made, but she handled everything from colors, fixtures, textiles, built-ins, tile design, floor plan, well, basically everything in and out of our home. She has such a gift! We are forever grateful for her.

Aaron was our project manager. Besides the fact that he is truly a nice guy, he treated our project as if it was his own home. We felt that he was always looking out for us and going above and beyond the call of duty in building our home. He was always easy to reach and to talk to. Even after living in our home, he is still invested in us, our home, and our family.

We built at The Landing on Jefferson Lakes community. It was the very best decision we have made, and will ever make. It’s a serene neighborhood, with a peaceful and quick drive to Mankato, St. Peter, Belle Plaine, Faribault, and the cities. We feel connected to many area communities being out here. The neighbors are so welcoming and are always watching out for our family and others. We are so happy to be living out in this perfect neighborhood in our dream home.

My family recently completed a new home construction project with R. Henry and The Design Element – we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I’m going to break the project down into a few areas for clarity.

Getting Started
We had some ideas on the type of house we wanted. We provided Rich and his team with pictures of houses and floor plans we found online. The architects took what we provided and put all the concepts together into a design we loved!

Education and Guidance
Going into this project I was concerned about the decisions I would have to make and the potential for cost increases. Everyone at R. Henry and The Design Element kept our needs and finances in mind. They educated and guided us every step of the way. They helped us understand what products would be critical to our home and items that wouldn’t make much difference when it came to resale value. They also helped us steer clear of products that could result in less than ideal quality.

Architecture
Every element of the home architecture was thought out, right down to placement of windows and the direction they opened. We wanted a lot of windows and an open floor plan. Jeff from R. Henry helped us figure out the ideal floor plan and window placement so we were able to get what we wanted without breaking the bank. Kailee guided us to get an excellent kitchen layout that is spacious and convenient.

Interior Design
We had several collaborative meetings with The Design Element and R. Henry. One great thing about these two businesses is how closely they work together which provides continuity. Put simply, the interior of our home is amazing. We loved the products and finishes recommended by The Design Element. I want to give a special acknowledgement to our designer, Megan. She listened to our requests, sent us amazing options and guided us in what would look great. I feel like we had the freedom to get what we wanted and at the same time the guidance we needed to make sure everything worked together. We were so impressed with the home design itself that we extended our work with Megan to have her help us with furnishings and other decorations for our home. Everything is stylish and beautiful!

Project Management
Overall the process was easy and I would do it again. There was a ton of moving parts and I couldn’t imagine trying to manage the project all by myself. For this, I want to give a special acknowledgement to Aaron from R. Henry. We actually started this project living across the US and he kept us in the know every step of the way with pictures and weekly, if not daily emails and calls. He sheltered us enough from the crazy pieces all needing to fit together and yet was transparent with us and explained all the details without them being overwhelming. He shared what was being done, why it was being done and how it was going to happen. Very clear and concise. Aaron always made time for those burning questions – his patience and ability to keep things moving was key to the project.

Quality and Craftsmanship
R. Henry and The Design Element strive for quality. Our friends built a home at the same time we did with another builder. When I look at the products and finishes in their home, they do not compare. When my wife and I considered less than quality products, our builders and designers educated us on the pros and cons on those products. If our motivation for choosing a product was financial, they helped us find high-quality products at our price point. R. Henry and The Design Element are proud of what they do and only want the best for their customers. I want to acknowledge the amazing woodwork done by Rob – a master at what he does. We provided old barn wood from our family farm and he turned it into spectacular doors and accents throughout our home. His work on the shiplap is impeccable.

We Plan to Continue
Would we use R. Henry and The Design Element again? Absolutely. The combination of quality, attention to detail, transparency and education, seal the deal. As a matter fact, we are already considering when we will have our next project with them.

Don and I wanted to stay on the lake but needed a home that would fit our needs. We contacted R. Henry and they were able to build our new home, within the limited space of our lot, making it everything we wanted.

Aaron, our Project Manager, was great to work with. He was there throughout the whole build out, whether in person or by phone, updating us weekly on the progress. From the day we sat down to do our drawings to the end of construction, we knew we were at the right place.

Two things in particular about R. Henry stood out (1) their willingness to work with me to contain costs on some aspects of the project so that we could maximize what was most important to me and (2) their problem-solving abilities, even for things that were not specifically their responsibility. I was unhappy with one kitchen installation (it wasn’t done incorrectly I just really hated it). The product vendor said that it was installed to specification and nothing more could be done. R. Henry folks then stepped in and came up with a fix that was simple for the vendor to do and that completely solved my problem. A year later, I’m still pleased with the result!

Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend R. Henry Construction.

If we were to build again – we’d choose R. Henry.

Furthermore, all of the sub-contractors and others working our project were conscientious, respectful and considerate. We are impressed. Thank you for making this a good experience!

It was their idea to take out a wall to enlarge the kitchen area where everyone gathers at family get togethers and the end result was fantastic. Their staff helped put together materials and colors that were practical yet within our taste and budget. The kitchen cupboards were custom built by them and incorporated all our wants and ideas and I could not be more pleased with the end result.

The bathroom plan was excellent, creating a separate shower and tub arrangement in a small space and yet looked like it was meant to be that way. Again, the materials that were used and the decorating that was done according to our taste, showed they listened to our needs and made suggestions accordingly. The lighting fixtures, granite countertop and pebble shower floor were items that we may not have thought of, but certainly add to the quality look of the project that they did for us.

We can’t imagine a better home for us or nicer people to work with. We are happy we chose R. Henry Construction.

During the summer of 2013, I noticed the Mankato Design Center. I walked in to the showroom and met a woman who listened to my questions and to our unwillingness to this job without a reputable planner/designer/builder. She assured me I had come to the right place.

In June 2014, work began under the watchful eye of Mike Roll. He orchestrated the demolition, framing, subcontractor and he always kept us aware of who and when work and workers would be taking place at our residence.

We are very pleased with the remodel. It truly exceeds our original thoughts of an upgrade. We highly recommend R. Henry Construction, The Design Element and Mike Roll (project manager) for construction and remodeling projects to anyone who wants quality work done in a very professional manner.

I contacted R. Henry Construction and they came up with some very good ideas to make my kitchen handicap accessible.

They installed many drawers instead of cupboards for storage, as well as ped a counter at the end of the peninsula that can be used for many things. I am very pleased with the results and I now have a very beautiful and functional kitchen.

We hired R. Henry Construction to superintend the townhome renovation we were coordinating with the Design Element. This renovation meant new flooring throughout, new bathroom vanities, a totally reworked kitchen area as well as some other requests. I cannot be more pleased with the final outcome, nor more pleased with the attentiveness of the R Henry job superintendent to respond thoughtfully to all expressed concerns and to make sure that things were done on schedule and done well. We’re not expecting to do any more renovations but were we to do so we would ask them to handle it. It feels good to live in the home that their work made possible.
